DNA patterning with NFP

Yesterday, Raymond and I tried to pattern with DNA, and we ended up with making big puddles, ranging between 5~20 µm in diameter, on the surface. We concluded that the environmental parameters (for example, lower humidity) and other solvents should be optimized to have control of the dispensing from the volcano tip. It also should be noted that the DNA solution was fed for once and used for ~4 hours without refill, and the tip was still depositing the solution.

The used solvent was Dimethylformamide (DMF) mixed with DI water (9:1 volume). Single DNA strands were dissolved in the solvent, and complementary strands tagged with Au particles were to be attached after patterning with NFP probes.

The used NFP chip is kept in a box (F or G): the second one in the row of NFP chips (there are 2).
